Happy Wednesday Everyone and Unhappy Tax Day! Today’s Core Value is: We Create Our Future.
Last Wednesday, Fernando who is our Branch Ambassador from Kansas City, shared a message from Ana who is one of our team members at the KC Branch. Ana is a single mother of four, who is creating her future and recently bought a home. She wanted Fernando to share the story with me, and he did in last Wednesday’s Morning Message.
Someday, many years from now, I would like to sit in a rocking chair on the front porch of a home I intend to build. The home will sit on a semi-wooded site, facing the southwest, and overlook pastures and woods in the distance – not a neighbor in sight. And in that moment, with the sun occasionally reaching me through the trees, I would like to reflect on a life that somehow made a difference for others. That is what I have long called my “Rocking Chair Dream.”
Over the course of the past six weeks or so, I have had a few stories like Ana’s find me. Because of the impact Focal Pointe is making on others, I have reason to believe that my Rocking Chair Dream is coming true, which is an emotional thing for me to accept. To lead a company that provides wonderful people a platform to pursue their dreams…and Create Their Future…lands somewhere between a tremendous responsibility and tremendous honor. And, the best part is, there is still so much more we can, and will do.
Perhaps that’s the paradox of a life that shifts from an existence, to a gift. By helping others create their future, you create your own, and while your eyes may be looking over a pasture with some woods in the distance; perhaps what you really see and feel, is more of a reflection of the motives behind your daily habits, all of which seemed inconsequential in the moment, but over time, grew into something more.
Thank you team for taking advantage of the opportunities Focal Pointe is providing. That is the essence of today’s Core Value, and should be a tremendous source of pride for every one of us.
