Focal Pointe announces that long-time irrigation manager John Combs has been promoted to Director of Irrigation and Water Management.
Combs has an impressive track record and a wealth of expertise, with over 10-years of experience at Focal Pointe in landscape irrigation, irrigation technology, and irrigation training. In his new role, he will oversee and support irrigation and water management operations across the Focal Pointe organization. He is an Irrigation Association Certified Irrigation Technician, and pursuing certifications in irrigation auditing and water management.
“It’s an honor being part of an organization that deeply cares about its customers and the value of maintaining a healthy landscape,” Combs says.
Rather than just focus on technical elements of irrigation alone, Combs puts an emphasis on communications and says that one of the reasons he loves his job is working with customers and finding ways to enhance the beauty and performance of their landscape. Currently Combs’ team is using a combination of low-tech and high-tech innovations, including smart controllers and weather-based technology. “Our overall goal is to find the balance between being good stewards of our customers’ water while, at the same time, create a beautiful, welcoming, and uplifting environment for them to enjoy year-round.”
Combs is based out of Focal Pointe’s on-site branch at Washington University in St. Louis. He reports to Focal Pointe Chief Operating Officer, Brett Gordon. Combs earned a Master of Education Degree at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology Education from Webster University in Webster Groves, MO. Prior to joining Focal Pointe in 2014, he was an assistant baseball coach at Lindenwood University Belleville.
