Happy Friday Everyone…Friday the 13th! Today’s Core Value is: We Inspire Communities.
This Tuesday, Barry Phillips, from our Construction Branch stuck his head in my office for a quick chat. He thanked me for what Focal Pointe is growing into, and the impact it’s making on him. “I enjoy working here so much, I almost feel guilty. This place makes me a better person.”
When we talked about how he ended up at Focal Pointe, he said that Mark Doering, our Senior Superintendent in Construction recruited him. During that discussion, Barry asked what all we do at Focal Pointe. Paraphrasing, Mark said: “It’s not about what you’ll be doing. That’s not why you go to work at Focal Pointe. It’s about how you feel working there.”
Assuming what Barry told me is true, and he wasn’t just trying to brighten my day, that was a compliment of the highest order. Although I’ve met Barry before Tuesday, the inspiration he’s gaining from the company is coming from within…within himself, and within the team. That’s the magic of inspiration, and it’s no different than the magic of happiness – the more you give, the more you receive.
